I Don't Ask Much, Just This

Dear Provonians,

Many years ago Provo was blessed with a Rubio's. Rubio's fish tacos. I remember going there with my brother Topher, enjoying a little taste of Baja on a sunny afternoon across the street from Provo High. All was well.

But it came to pass that Provo did not see the joy of Rubio's fish tacos and the franchise was taken away from us. We were a lost people, we were too ignorant to see the error of our ways.

And now look, Orem has a Rubio's.

On behalf of me and my tribe I beg you to not let Rubio's slip away from our society. Even if you have to drive to Orem for a fish taco plate, I plead with you (as one who doesn't generally celebrate franchises in general) to do so regularly. Weekly. Please keep this business in place. Fish tacos lovers unite!

530 East University Pkwy, Orem, UT 84097

(Across from University Mall)

Love,

c jane

OMGOSH. Rubio's = bliss. I can't believe the one in Provo didn't make it. But God is apparently forgiving and, as the Veggie Tales say, "a God of second chances."

So, y'all go get some of that.

We're super lucky to have many-a-Rubios out here in the Bay Area. I love (LOVE) the new Chile-Lime Salmon tacos they have.. they're topped with this amazing corn mixture that just bathes my tongue in love. I hope your Rubio's stays a while.. if not, I can always mail you a fish taco... maybe not.

OH! Tuesday is "Fish Taco Tuesday (at least it is out here) and the little gems are only $1.25 EACH. That's almost free!!

:D

Thank-you for the tip! We just rented my daughter an apartment for next year in Provo. She will be staying at Raintree Commons and commuting to UVU in Orem. I will make sure that when we take her out in August to drop her off we make a stop at Rubios.

Did you know if you sign up for their newsletter you get a free taco?
Free is good!

We've been and I can't wait to go again! Cjane, you were actually there eating when we were. Go, Rubio's. YUM!

You speak truth, sister. There was a Rubio's up at our giant strip mall, and then it was taken away from the people and we had to drive all the way to Sugar House to get a fish taco. But then, in a miracle and a great blessing, the Rubio's came back! Bigger and better! And you better believe I am a frequent frequenter. I was before, but now!

Court I was at Rubio's last night and there was a pretty good line. I tried the "Heart Smart Mahi Mahi Burrito' it was rather lovely.

Also your Father was mentioned during our caucus last night. Pretty cool.

Fish tacos are like the 8th Wonder of the World. Lucky, lucky you living close to a vendor. Not so much, in my case. Enjoy one for me.

We would drive to SLC to go to Rubio's once they left Provo.

We are SO glad they are back, even if it's not as close as it once was.

See you there.

American Fork has one too. I was the happiest girl in the world when they opened! ;)

Yummmm. Fish tacos...We Salt Lakers are blessed with both Rubio's and Rumbi. Though I have yet to partake of fish tacos from Rubio's, Rumbi's fish tacos are divine.
I think I know what I'm having for lunch!

We drive from Eagle Mountain to the Orem Rubio's. Yes, we have one closer. But the atmosphere and Dave, the manager, are just so engaging at Orem Rubio's! Go, go, go!

Fish tacos have been on my mind lately. I should make some! Too bad I don't live closer :(

My husband has been urging me to eat more fish. Do you think he'd count fish tacos? :) I haven't had Rubio's since they left Provo. I've got to get over there.

ps - have you tried the burgers at Stumpy Burger in Provo? Best. Burger. Ever. Really. They are so good.

Provo also had a Jimmy Johns once upon a time and it closed. Which is hard to believe as well!

Rubios!!! I love Rubios!!! Sadly we don't have Rubio's in Washington, but I never miss a visit to this fine establishment when visiting my sisters in California and Las Vegas. I love the fish tacos and the lobster burrito. I am dreaming now.

I think I will make fish tacos for dinner tonight.

We LOVE OUR FISH TACOS!!! My youngest son calls them "Sheesh tacos"! If Orem goes away, then come to American Fork, we love our Rubios!

Are you kidding me?!? I was so mad when Rubio's left Provo!!! Then I move away where there will never be a Rubio's and Orem gets one. So not fair. I will have to dream of the lobster burrito (in season) until I return for my yearly visit. Mmmmm, lobster!

I did my part! I had two fish tacos at Rubio's today and took a friend who also had two fish tacos.

Rubios fish tacos are the only fish I eat! Nice to eat at a place that reminds me of San Diego where I grew up. I also saw Cjane there eating with her parents and HAD to talk to her :) She was so nice!!

I bet my Fish Tacos are better, but I'd try Rubio's when I'm not making my own at home.

I sorrowed when they left and am over-joyed that they are back. I'm with you. Rubios has to make it this time!

I know this blog is devoted to Provo, but if you ever find yourself in Salt Lake you should try Lonestar Taqueria's fish tacos. They are to die for. As is the shrimp burrito and most everything else on the menu.
