Go to the top of Elm Avenue where it meets Oak Lane. There you will see the loveliest of lilac bushes, a whole row of them. It is worth seeing the bunches of purple and smelling fresh lilac in May. These bushes have been blooming year after year for decades, and they will make your spring.
Hurry before the short lilac season is over!
I am c jane, and I love lilacs.

I dont think i have ever seen a lilac bush.. makes me think of the primary song My Heavenly Father loves me.. now I have a visual.. thanks from Australia :)
You know, a lady i dearly cared about lived on Elm Ave. I am from the Netherlands, she served her mission here when i was little. Growing up i visited here a few times and i just love the street she lived in. I love this photo....it reminds me of great times in my life.
my birthday month is May so lilacs and lily of the valley are my favorite memory flowers from when I was a little girl. Our lilacs are gone for this year so thanks for the beautiful picture, I can almost smell them again!
Donna from Massachusetts
Do you ever get over the beauty of being surrounded by the mountains?
I always focus on the mountains in your outdoor pictures. Here in the Northern Plains we only see miles and miles of, well, plains.
Always a Lilac lover. I spent my childhood keeping a book of lists of smells I wouldn't ever want to live without on this Earth. Lilac of course is right at the top! (I'm a strange sense sort of person.)
They were my gran's favorite flower and she had rows upon rows growing in the front of her house. I don't remember a single spring where I didn't sleep with my windows open, just to catch intoxicating sent of Lilac on the wind.
Just loverly!
I grew up on Elm. I love those bushes.
Another good spot(in my opinion) for the great smell of lilac bushes is along 1430 N on BYU campus. You'll find a whole row of them on the sidewalk across the street from the Bean Musuem. I love them.
Ah dang. That makes me SO homesick for Utah. I live in North Carolina now and lilacs don't grow here. It is a great tragedy. I love the picture you posted. It is so ordinary, and yet so special because it made me think of the millions of times i have stood in front of a giant lilac bush, breathing deeply and trying to fill my whole self with that intoxicating smell.
This is such a great picture. I love the smell of lilacs :)
around the corner there used to be snap dragons. maybe there still is, I don't know, I'm no longer a tree street girl.
yes and i have already picked those (stolen them) I like to kype flowers you know.
lilacs bring me the sweet memory of my mom. she returned to her heavenly home just six months ago. i now live in the desert of AZ and lilacs do not drop their roots here. so i have planted an abundant amount of star jasmine on and around my front porch. it smells so sweet and blooms in may. just in time for mother's day. it is my gift every year :) I know my mom looks down upon my star jasmine and smiles with me.
I can smell them right through that photo!
I have a Lilac Tree in my front yard. I must not be doing something right, the tree in your picture is so much more lovely than mine. I need to get a Growing Lilacs 101 book! Thank you for the beautiful picture!
Thank you for posting this. Lilacs remind me of my childhood home, where we had a whole row of them as well. Someday I will have a whole orchard full of them. Best flower ever.
I grew up on an Elm Street in Pennsylvania and we had glorious lilac bushes in our back yard. Oh, how I miss them !!! I am going to plant one soon!
I have dropped a few hints to God that it would be really great if He would extend the blooming season of lilacs. By a lot.
I suppose He has his reasons...
My grandma had a lilac bush and we loved to play in her yard. Every time I smell lilacs I am instantly transported back to her house, and all of the happy memories with her.
I loooove lilacs. I looooove Provo. and i loooove that I've come across your blog. Do you ever sell or share copies of the pictures you take?
Lilacs remind me of my mom who passed away in November 2001. They were her favorite flowers. When I was a little girl she showed me how to pick a blossom and suck the nectar from it. I miss her so much and think of her all the time....but even more during lilac season.
I grew up in Rochester, NY, which is the city of Lilacs. They even have a festival. I love, love, love them. I need to play a lilac bush in my yard as I rarely see any here in my neck of the woods!
Hi, we Lilacs in the garden and our neighbors as well. Today I smell a big bouquet on the table. Beautiful symbol of spring.
Tomorrow I'll do a picture specially for you.
Greetings from Prague, Jana
Sorry for my English

Thanks for that little slice of home... I miss Utah.
I like to cut the lilacs that grow through the fence. That way I can't get caught (I'm a chicken) AND they are public property right?
