This is a date for this Saturday (Jan. 23rd) and you won't be disappointed with me. I so pledge.
First, go try your hand (belly) at Provo's newest pizza, Slab. I intend to give the place a full-on write-up next week, but until then take my word for it, EAT THIS PIZZA. Just the other night Chup engulfed his cheese and pepperoni (Chup's a traditional guy) while I had delicious dialogue with my Thai Chicken (peanut butter on pizza sprinkled with cilantro, oh died, oh heaven!) And the next day, when I ate it cold? Even better. That is the mark of a good pie. Telling you what Provonians.
It takes about ten minutes to bake (tell Eric Courtney sent you) so give yourself time to sit at the communal-style tables, relax and flirt. Oh I love to flirt. Almost as much as peanut butter on pizza. Please note: the pies are really generous in size, so watch the gluttony.
Here is the address:
(where Dew used to be)
669 East 800 North Provo, UT 84606

Here is the menu.
Here is the about.
After the grub go get yourself to the Covey for the Thrillionaire's Film Noir show. The Thrillionaires are Provo's elite comedy troupe. Singing, dancing, dramatizing 100% improv comedy. As I read on facebook, this show is a favorite among cast members, so if you want to experience the Thrillionaires this is the one for you. Plus, it is cold and inversion-y outside and sledding is dangerous on non-existent snow. SO STAY INSIDE FOR THE HEALTH OF YOUR LUNGS!
(Who stopped praying for moisture by-the-way? Resume! Please.)
Show starts at 8.
Ticket information here.
Three dollars off if you buy online before Saturday!
Facebook page here.
After the show head up Center to Sammy's and get your date an accceptable nightcap (drink, is what I mean).

Why is it that people always say the word "moisture" when they pray? Why not simply "rain" or "snow"?
I often wonder the same thing that jennie w. boldly asks. Moist and moisture are my least favorite words ever. But I am certainly not criticizing you, cjane--since every person I know prays for said "moisuture". Does anyone know why I have an aversion to these words? :)
Sam of Sammy just got married on Saturday to a completely hot lady. If you see him at Sammy's, wish him well.
Ooh, you totally made me want to live in Provo again this weekend. I am licking my lips and wishing I could go to Slab and Sammy's right now. I am going to suggest this date to my sister and her hubby who do live there!
Trying to find something for Friday night - We have a newborn and it is our anniversary. Any suggestions besides the obvious?
Went to Slab Pizza for lunch with the husband. Thanks for the recommendation! We loved it. We told one of the owners (not sure who) that you sent us!
the "moisture" thing must be Utah-only. In NC, we Mormons pray for rain. I CERTAINLY have NEVER prayed for snow. It's lovely in Utah; it's a mess in NC.
Praying for moisture is an inside joke us Provonians can understand. It is all we heard growing up.
For Friday night anniversary I'd get a small table reserved at Communal (baby friendly people) save room for desert. After do a Provo Friday night gallery stroll with your stroller and bundled baby (see the Provo website for more info.) Go to Rooster after and order a lava cake (or whatever deseet you want-you can't go wrong) and take it home to eat in bed. The rest is up to you! Happy anniversary!
Thank you for the suggestions. I've lived here for 11 years now and never heard of these places. Obviously we need to get out more often.
I don't think that it is exactly rain or snow that they want but some humidity in the air. I just think it would be awesome if the air wasn't so dry. So I will pray for moisture and hope it doesn't come in the form of more snow!
we totally went to Slabpizza! loved it! thanks for the introduction and recommendation!
