Come back tomorrow for a tasty review of SLABpizza with photos shot by Wendy of Blue Lily. You will want to eat her photos.Or you will want to eat at SLAB. Either way, come hungry.
It's not pageantry that is a big part of Utah...It's Provo that is a big part of Utah. Provo would have no representation in different venues, that go on through out the year in the state of Utah. Provo has HUGE history for Utah and should be included and represented.
Time for the organization to start some fund-raising. Who knew that was government money to start with? Aren't these types of things paid for by sponsors? Get cracking pretty girls.
wow, I didn't know city money supported that - I would have protested. There are many more important issues - "pictures on the wall of city hall" and a "presence in the parades and other traditions"... really? I say start fund-raising!
I've never been a fan of these pageants. In fact, when I worked as the weekend anchor/ producer in a small town - the local pageant was in the day file for coverage and I ignored it thinking it wasn't news.
I got an earful from the boss's daughter/ main anchor / face of the station later because she was a former pageant queen - an this was 'oh so important'!
But city funding for the pageant? yuck. He's right - it benefits so few people - it's not worth it.
I've never understood buying $500 + dresses/ gowns to win a $1000 scholarship!

Gosh, it looks like the protest I organized back in 1992 finally worked. Now I feel a little bad...
1992 . . . wasn't that the year you tried out?
wouldn't you be MRS.Provo? :)
I didn't know that pageantry was "such a strong part of Utah."

This may be my favorite thread of comments I've ever had on my Provo blog. Hot issue! Who knew?
I am with Marianne. Let's fundraise. Who has ideas? I have a lot that probably aren't appropriate.
